Wayne County Online Booking Search

Wayne County does not currently maintain a public online inmate roster or booking search tool. To check on a booking, the most direct route is a phone call to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office at (765) 973-9393. Staff can confirm if someone is in custody and share the charges. The jail operates 24 hours a day, so you can call at any time.

Walk-in requests work well too. Head to the Wayne County Jail at 200 W. Main St. in Richmond and ask to view booking records. Under IC 5-14-3-3, the office must make these records available for inspection during regular business hours. No appointment needed. You do not have to tell them why you are looking.

The Richmond Police Department at 50 N. 5th St. also handles some records requests. Their phone number is (765) 983-7247 and the Records Division is open Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm. Incident reports from the RPD cost $5 each.

Wayne County Booking Report Contents

Every Wayne County booking report must contain certain data by law. IC 5-14-3-5 requires the name, age, and address of the arrested person to be public. The charges, arrest location, and time of the arrest are public. The arresting officer and agency are named. Once a person enters the Wayne County Jail, the booking date and time, the hold reason, and bail or bond amounts become public as well.

A typical report from Wayne County will list the full legal name, date of birth, booking photo, arrest date, booking number, and all charges. Statute codes are referenced for each charge.
